Indigenous women are at the forefront in the defense of Mother Earth. In Brazil, Indigenous land defenders continue to prioritize Mother Earth despite the dangers of undertaking those efforts—criminalization, harassment, physical attacks, etc.
“And so, all warrior women, land and water defenders, who do this work in their own territories, and outside of their own territories, regarding health, education, etc., please strengthen yourselves, connect yourselves with Mother Earth, because that’s where our strength comes from. Do not let yourself to be exploited. If you feel tired, exhausted, stop. Breathe. Just like others need to be nurtured, you too need this. And the great Mother Earth does this for us. We protect her and she protects us. And please receive all my love towards all women land defenders. You cannot forget about yourself. The planet is not going to be able to handle all of it anymore. We already have scientific proof that zones that are currently being affected by climate change are caused by the fact that we are not taking proper care of Mother Earth. And so, there will be diseases that will keep coming up more and more, because animals no longer have their natural habitat. We are creating pandemics and our own extinction. You can help! You can help by supporting campaigns. You can help by being aware, by not being racist. You can help by getting to know the issues of your own country: what do the Indigenous people of your country look like? What is happening? Where can you help? Is it a whole community or a person within the community? How do I make a difference? Because when we talk about earth, we are talking about one planet. There does not exist planet B, planet C, that’s ove.”

Mulheres Indígenas e a proteção da Mãe Terra
As mulheres Indígenas estão na linha de frente na defesa da Mãe Terra. No Brasil, as defensoras das terras Indígenas continuam a priorizar a Mãe Terra, apesar do perigo de empreender esses esforços – criminalização, assédio, ataques físicos, etc.
““Todas as mulheres guerreiras, guardiãs da mãe terra, que fazem esse trabalho em seus próprios territórios, e fora de seus próprios territórios, seja na área da saúde, da educação, se fortaleçam, se conectem com a grande mãe terra porque é daí que vem nossa força. Não se deixe sugar. Se você se sentir cansada, par, pare, respire. Assim como os outros precisam ser nutridos, você também precisa ser nutrida. E a grande mãe terra faz isso por nós. Nós a protegemos e ela nos protege. E todo o meu amor também a todas as guardiãs. Você não pode esquecer de você mesmo. O planeta não vai dar conta mais. Já temos provas científicas de que essas zonas que estão atacando aí são dessa má-gestão de convívio com a mãe terra. Então sãodoenças que continuarão surgindo cada vez mais, porque os animais não têm mais seu habitat natural. Estamos criando pandemias e nossa própria extinção. Você pode ajudar, apoiando campanhas. Você pode ajudar sendomletrado, não sendo racista, você pode ajudar conhecendo as questões do seu próprio país, como são os indígenas do seu próprio país, o que está acontecendo, onde eu posso apoiar? Será que é uma comunidade inteira? Será que é uma pessoa da comunidade? Como faço a diferença? Porque quando falamos de terra, estamos falando de 1 planeta só. Não existe planeta B, planeta C.
