Now available! KAIROS’ 2022-2023 Annual Report – “not just an organization but a movement”
KAIROS is pleased to release its 2022-2023 Annual Report, which showcases two years of notable milestones and actions that have meaningfully engaged hundreds of thousands of participants in Canada and globally, despite the challenges related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
During this time, we celebrated the KAIROS Blanket Exercises 25th anniversary with the very first World KAIROS Blanket Exercise in Australia and the launch of a new path forward, one that centers Indigenous voices.
KAIROS wrapped up two successful programs, funded by the Government of Canada. Empowering Temporary Foreign Workers During COVID-19 served more than 150,000 migrant workers in Ontario and the Maritimes by the time it concluded in September 2022. And in 2023, the final year of KAIROS’ highly successful Women of Courage: Women, Peace and Security Program, KAIROS and its partners participated in a series of in-person exchanges, including a cross-Canada delegation tour. KAIROS staff and its partners brought marginalized voices to the table at the UN climate conferences, and we participated at the Commission on the Status of Women where the focus was on digital access and security.
We offered timely educational resources during Climate Action Month, Climate Action Week and COP28, including a report on Loss and Damage. And we encouraged the network to support important legislation concerning corporate accountability and environmental racism, and for the government to support women peacebuilders in its annual budgets.
The report also reflects on the thousands of people engaged in network events. As Leah Reesor-Keller, KAIROS Transitional Executive Director, reflects, “KAIROS is not just an organization but a movement.”
