KAIROS partner Chantal Bilulu delivers a strong message to Parliamentarians
In June, KAIROS partner Chantal Bilulu met with MPs, Canadian churches and other civil society organizations as part of a KAIROS sponsored visit to Canada. Ms. Bilulu is with Héritiers de la Justice, a Congolese human rights organization and KAIROS partner.
Chantal Bilulu warned Parliamentarians that real gains in her country are under threat. “Years of progress in promoting human rights and women’s leadership in the Democratic Republic of Congo risk being lost,” she said, “if the current regime’s tactics to delay upcoming elections result in violence.”

Chantal Bilulu is with Héritiers de la Justice, a Congolese human rights partner organization. As part of her visit, she met with Members of Parliament, Canadian churches and other civil society organizations. For close to a decade, KAIROS and Héritiers de la Justice have collaborated to provide counselling, human rights training and legal accompaniment to survivors of sexual violence and other gender-based violence in Congo. In Toronto, she presented to the KAIROS Global Partnerships Circle, which advises the KAIROS board. Currently, Chantal is participating in a three-week intensive human rights training course in Montreal, with the support of KAIROS and Equitas.
