The city of Jerusalem must be shared and open

In the wake of US declarations on status of Jerusalem, KAIROS shares its long standing position on Jerusalem as an open city.  Our policy says:

The city of Jerusalem must be shared and open.

The question of Jerusalem has two dimensions: one relates to Palestinians and Israelis as nationalities; the other to Muslims, Christians and Jews as religious people. Sovereignty must be shared between the two nationalities. All faith groups must have open and free access to their holy places.

We express our deep concern that this recent unilateral action will frustrate the work of just peace being pursued by our partners in the region.  We invite your reflection on this letter recently released by Jerusalem heads of churches:
