June 1st marks 10 years since the release of TRC’s Final Report

This report documented the horrific truths of Canada’s residential school system — stories shared by over 6,000 Survivors, families, and communities. It gave voice to the pain, the strength, and the truths that Indigenous peoples have carried for generations.
The Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) of Canada laid out 94 Calls to Action — a national roadmap for reconciliation across all sectors: education, justice, child welfare, language, health care and beyond.
10 years later… how far have we come? How much work still lies ahead?
Reconciliation is not a moment. It’s not a trend. It’s a commitment to truth, action and justice — every single day. Today, we honour the Survivors, the children who never made it home and all those who carry these truths.
What you can do:
- Read or revisit the TRC’s 94 Calls to Action
- Educate yourself and others about the legacy of residential schools
- Support Indigenous-led healing and revitalization
- Listen deeply. Speak up. Take action.
Let us remember that truth must come before reconciliation.
