Additionally, the successful collection of 72,514 signatures shows our government and the international finance community that Canadians want international debt justice. These signatures were delivered to Parliament Hill on April 28, 2026, marking a significant milestone for the campaign. This is about impact, not just statistics.
We call for debt cancellation in relation to the ecological debt owed by Global North countries to the Indigenous peoples and the Global South. In order to build political will for change, confronting economic justice and ecological debt need to be top of mind again. We want people to understand that global debt has never been higher and that much of the debt owed by countries is unjust.

Following the spirit of the campaign from 25 years ago, this Jubilee 2025 movement has already seen 72,514 Canadians speak out. While the initial handover has occurred, sharing the results and the ongoing call for justice through your newsletters and social media remains vital. Our strongest engagement has come from in-person conversations — in congregations, community spaces and events. Organizers across the country are hosting workshops and gatherings, bringing together diverse allies and sparking deeper dialogue on inequality, climate and migration.
