Murray Pruden (he/him)
Director of Indigenous Programs
416-463-5312
Murray Pruden is Nehiyaw (Cree First Nations) from Goodfish Lake Nation, Alberta, now calling Vancouver, BC home. His journey has taken him from theatre stages to government halls to ministry circles — all grounded in his deep love for Indigenous communities, spirituality, and storytelling. He’s worn many hats along the way: public servant, union activist, and most recently, National Executive Minister for Indigenous Ministries and Justice with The United Church of Canada. Through it all, Murray’s mission has stayed the same — to lift up Indigenous voices, share stories of hope and humour, and remind us all of our sacred connection to one another and to Creation. At KAIROS, Murray is excited to keep weaving networks of justice, relationship, and reconciliation — with a good dose of laughter along the way. When he’s not busy storytelling or leading conversations on faith and community, you might find Murray diving into creative projects, enjoying theatre and film, or just sharing a good laugh over coffee. He believes joy is sacred — and that a great story can change the world.
